Correlation of Thunderstorms to Haunted House
November 18th, 2010 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Several years ago Tim Vasquez, a very well respected weather forecaster, wrote an essay about the correlation of thunderstorms to haunted locations. It is a very good read and highly recommend reading it to those who are interested.

First investigation at the Crawford St. House, and with SEKPI
November 17th, 2010 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Well I must say the Crawford St. House was quite impressive for my first real investigation since joining SEKPI. For some the Crawford House might be a bit much for the first time but I was really into it. The crazy thing is I felt really at home when I was at this house, and usually if you are investigating a house with so much known instances of paranormal activity you dont get that feeling. I think what helped give me this feeling as well is how welcoming the owners were, and also how they handle it so well. Hope to investigate it again, and hope all my future investigations I do with SEKPI go this well.

My Interest in the Paranormal
November 17th, 2010 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

Every once in a blue moon I get asked how my interest in the paranormal came about, and this entry is to explain just that.

I wasn’t always interested in the paranormal, that is until my freshman year of high school. That was when the seed was planted and my interest developed. After all of these years I still recall the single event that sparked my interest.

I was getting ready for school and was in the bathroom fixing my hair, by this point my parents and brother were gone and and I was alone in the house when suddenly I heard my name being said. I thought maybe my brother or one of my parents had come back home so I exited the bathroom expecting to see that one of them had returned home but instead I found the house empty and the front door was still locked.

Thinking that I was just tired and was hearing things, I made my way back to the bathroom to finish up when about a minute later I heard my name being said again. This time it was closer, as if someone was right next to me and said my name but the only problem was that nobody was there. This time there was no mistaking it, I definitely heard my name being said and to have something say your name when nobody is around isn’t normal.

At that point in life I had no interest in the paranormal, in fact this freaked me out to the point I immediately left and waited out on the front porch in the cold for my ride to come. Even though it freaked me out it continued to weigh heavily on my mind for the rest of the day.

Eventually I went from being freaked out to wanting answers. I wanted to know what said my name, how something that wasn’t there and I couldn’t see say my name and not just once, but twice. The seed was planted and it was that moment that I became interested in the paranormal.

I didn’t really get into ghost hunting until after high school, but my interest in the paranormal was with me throughout high school.

That pretty much sums up how I became interested in the paranormal, a single experience I had in high school sparked an interest that has continued to grow ever since.

Crawford St. House Investigation
November 16th, 2010 under Uncategorized. [ Comments: none ]

The Crawford Street House in Fort Scott, KS is what I like to call a “paranormal hot spot”. I’ve investigated a lot of places over the years, sometimes multiple times, and not often do you revisit a location multiple times and consistently come out with personal experiences or great evidence, or both. The Crawford St. House is unlike any other location I have investigated, not only have we had personal experiences on each investigation but we’ve captured evidence each time as well.

Let’s go back in time and head back to the middle of October. A couple of other members of SEKPI and I booked a ghost tour of the Crawford Street House, we were booked for the 9:30 PM slot on Oct. 23rd. The 23rd rolls around and we ventured up to Fort Scott and soon arrived at the house, the moment I saw the house I knew this would be unlike any other place we’ve been to . Once we arrived and made our way in we learned about the history of the house, about the spirits and activity experienced there. Then the groups of people were taken to various parts of the house. Myself along with the others from SEKPI were the first to go up into the attic with Rick from River Cities Paranormal Kansas City. The 2nd floor and attic is said to be where a lot of the activity happens. One of the things I recall happening is we were all in the attic, nobody moving around, and we heard a very distinct footstep followed by vibration in the floor as if someone was walking around up there, except nobody was; at least not someone of physical form. What was great is we were able to capture this on audio.

I had two audio recorders going throughout the investigation and there were several interesting EVP’s that I captured. I later learned that later on in the night with another group, Rick from River Cities Paranormal Kansas City had a shadow appear next to him up in the attic.

A week later, on Oct. 28th when I went back up to reveal the EVP’s I captured we were asked to lead the tour group coming that night on an investigation. We quickly agreed. The experiences that night were several people being touched and at one point two members of a group I had up in the attic reported a shadow standing behind me. I captured several EVP’s from that as well, not in just the attic but in the kitchen as well.

This past Saturday night my team and I met up with two guests at the Crawford St. House who were interested in the paranormal and we lead them on an investigation of the house. Myself and Bryan first took our guests up into the attic and the only thing we experienced then was a knock that came from the north wall which we all heard. Later on myself and a few others were in the kitchen with the guest while Kaleigh and Kristen were up in the attic and right above us we could hear heavy footsteps walking on the 2nd floor. I confirmed that Kaleigh and Kristen was still in the attic and I quickly darted upstairs and nobody was there.

Bryan and one of our guests both reported being touched. At one point while downstairs there is an old piano that suddenly just played a note as if someone just pressed down on one of the mid-high notes. Not long after that we heard the music box that was sitting on the stairs start playing on its own. Keith, Bryan, our guests and I were the last to investigate the attic at which point we were having a flashlight conversation with who we believe is the spirit of a woman named Elizabeth. I am currently still reviewing audio and video, so far have a couple of good EVP’s and hopefully we captured something on video.

Needless to say, the Crawford St. House in Fort Scott is at the top of the list of the most active place I have investigated and we can’t wait to go back to conduct another investigation.

If you wish to learn more about the Crawford Street House and it’s history visit http://www.hauntedfortscott.com. You can also book a tour of the Crawford Street House, I highly recommend it.
