However there are apparitions based on each of the five senses. The banishment of an entity or entities i.e. spirits, ghosts and demons that is thought to possess or haunt a location or human being or animal. There is no substantial proof that these are related to paranormal phenomenon. | O | | | A spherical ball of light, allegedly the true spirit form. One theory is that orbs are the beginning of the manifestation process. Orbs can be often caught in photographs. | P | | | Anything that occurs outside the norm and is unexplainable by science. | | | | The study of mental abilities and effects outside the usual realm of psychology. Parapsychology includes the study of ESP, ghosts, luck, psychokinesis, and other paranormal phenomena. | | | | The word Poltergeist means "noisy ghost" in German. Poltergeists are rare, but when they exist they are centered around an agent. Poltergeists causes disruptive activity through the manipulation of material objects. Activity associated with a Poltergeist could be knocking and rappings on the wall, slamming of doors, levitation of objects and objects being thrown. It is believed that Poltergeist is the result of emotional distress of the person it is centered around. | R | | | This is the playback of a past event, trapped in a continuous loop. It is often associated with past events involving great trauma and tragedy. A person is seen or heard performing a repetitive action—walking down a flight of stairs, crossing a garden, screaming in agony—at the same time or place and by many different independent witnesses. Researchers believe that it is possible for certain building materials to retain the energy of an event, and "record" it electromagnetically in a similar way to modern video or audio tape, and then replay the eerie fragment when the atmospheric conditions are right, or when a person who is especially sensitive to its bizarre energy passes by. | S | | | Easily confused with normal shadows, these dark ghostly apparitions are often spotted at a distance or in peripheral vision, and are between two and ten feet long. Since the time of Descartes, this has indicated the rotation of cosmic energy around a central point or axis. Beginning in the mid-19th century, the word "vortex" has meant any whirling movement of energy or particles.
Some people use this term to explain lines or narrow cylinders that appear highlighted in ghost photos. | W | | | An Acoustical or electrical noise of which the intensity is the same at all frequencies within a given band.
